The World of Education

Walking on streets when I see kids working on the construction sites, collecting articles from Garbage, begging at the food joints especially, it really hurts me. Even after 6 decades of Independence we could not do anything for such kind kids for whom education is luxury, an expense which is  not affordable or  a liability. That's true that there are many NGOs and Government schemes to help these kids, but till what extent are they successful. Still there are lac's  of kids around us who feel helpless when they come to an age of going to schools.. colleges etc. Certainly, the free school schemes of government has made many kids to walk towards the schools, and the free meal has made parents to send their children to school. But, what about the quality of education they gain over there and what about after they finish their school.

Few years back, the maids of my society used to send their kids to my home, so that I could help their children to study because their children always complained that they didn't understand anything whatever was taught to them. I tried my level best to help, but unfortunately I could not continue teaching them and asked the retired citizens of my society to help them out. Today, those kids are doing well. But just imagine how many poor mothers actually  take initiative to know that the what kind of education their children are getting. They are nearly completely unaware about what ever their kids are taught. One of the basic reason is, they themselves are uneducated and illiterate.

If we look around us, we will find that education is becoming expensive. Today, parents have to adjust their monthly budget so that they can pay their child's fees. Not only the school fees but also tuition fees and the story doesn't end here, they  have to also pay the fees for the extra curricular activities. The next question in the parent's mind is what will happen when my kid will be in college? Shall I start saving from now itself? Shall make few investment so that I can pay my child's college fees?

The biggest question is WHY?? Education is FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT of every Indian Citizen irrespective of being rich or poor.. irrespective of child being born in high-fi family or a low-fi family.

There are few suggestions in my mind, which i would like to share through my blog. Well I don't know till what extent they can be implemented but yes they can be tried at least once.
  • Start helping the kids near by. Talk to the maids in your society ask them to send their kids to you thrice a week and teach them the basics.
  • Make groups of interested friends ask them to take out 2-3 hours on their Saturdays, go to the nearby slum areas collect kids play with them and try to help them out.
  • I belong to world where I have software people around me, we can establish  small lab with 1 projector, 1CPU and internet connection through video conferencing help the kids around.
  • It is very important to educate the lady of the family. Most of us stay in Co-operative society. Usually every society has small hall or an open area where people can gather together. We can request the manager of the society and conduct weekly sessions for the maids and security guards of the society and even ask them to get their friends along with them.
There is a saying "If we give a bit of ours to the SOCIETY.. The SOCIETY will surely give us back something".

Think over it. Can you do a bit for society and become a proud citizen of the country.

Do give it a thought after reading my blog. Your feedback is always welcomed.

Strings of life...!!

Strings of our life... What are they? Where are they?

We can attach them with our parents? We can relate them with our friends? We can join them with daily activities? We can recognize every string of our life with a sun rise?

What are the strings of the life exactly?

The answer to me is unknown. Sitting on my window with  cup of tea and feeling the fresh air of the morning this question came up to my mind. I realized that I am clueless about the answer to the question. Then calmness in me answered the question :

The answer was:

The string of life is having a cup of tea with mum in the morning.
The string of life sharing bed with your brother and bearing his snores all night.
The string of life sending stupid jokes to friends.
The string of life calling up papa and asking him how was your day?
The string of life cursing the college all the time to make our lives so irritating.
The string of life stepping out of the house look at the sky and say "HERE I AM".

In short, every single event of our life is the string of our life. In fact there are many strings in our lives. They just get combine together and make our life rhythmic. And the rhythm of our life is to dance with its notes, enjoy the up notes and down notes.

Rim Jhim Rains....!!

It's Sunday today. After a long nap  I realized that I am alone at home. I opened the sliding doors of my terrace to let the cold wind come in. The cold waves just rushed to my house... rushing through my hairs and gave  me a cold shiver making me realize they were really cold. But I still decided to keep the door open so that i can enjoy the cold waves on my skin. I just sat on my couch looking out side. The water filled clouds had occupied the sky leaving no space of the sun rays to reach the earth. I folded my knees towards myself and continued watching out as the time passed I realized that its showering heavily. There was a sadness in me as something had gone wrong this morning, I was low, alone but quiet.

I was feeling as if god is sending a message to me with the heavy showers saying Shruti don't be upset I am there with you for you always. The every drop falling on my terrace was asking me to smile and inviting me to come and join them in their dance. I wish I could join the rain. But I decided to sit on my couch and watch the rain drops dancing all around. As the time passed the rains got heavier and heavier and I continued watching them.

The rain drops painted the  door of my terrace leaving their foot prints behind saying me though we are going but you still have to smile, you till have to cherish your life. So what you have fallen we are here make you stand , but we cant make walk and run. That you have to try on your own. I replied them Yes I will.

Suddenly it started raining heavily again. As if God has opened its shower tap and is showering its blessings on me but with a mix of light in it. This rains filled the brightness in my soul which was sitting somewhere in dark. I just asked hey come out lets sit in light and sip tea together.

Some thoughts clicked into my mind.

  • The life is so beautiful we have only one why don't we live it happily.
  • Yes, we do mistakes and we fail that doesn't mean that we cant stand up again.
  • Family.. friends.. the issues never ends. Its better see the brighter side of everything.

For the readers:
I am not a good writer. Its just today I thought to type down my thoughts and share with you all.

Mozilla Carnival Pune 2012

Today, I attended few sessions of Mozilla Carnival at SICSR,Pune. The session which inspired me the most was WoMoZ session(www.womoz.org).
WoMoz stands for Women In Mozilla. The WoMoz session was really an inspiring session. It made me realize that when we girls are the best in most the areas then why are we lagging behind in the world of TECHNOLOGY. In fact we all girls who have little knowledge about Internet, Programming languages etc should join this platform and give our contribution to FOSS. So, lets all tech lover girls lets join the community and show the world that we can stand high and change the shocking statistics which says that out of 100% of developers 98% are men and 2% are women. Lets make change this statistics.
